The Brest urban area (Communauté Urbaine de Brest) has a large sewer system: 1000km-long, 56 lift stations, 4 sewage plants.
With the Loire-Brittany catchment authority, the CUB opted for a remote data communication network made up of 64 measuring points - a record in France, since a typical network of this size has 15 points on average.
The network monitors the CUB water system performance (alarming) and reports the various measurement data collected from the entire network (metrology). |
The equipment installed is considered as vital by the CEO operator for continuously monitoring the facilities (alarms, operation of the different devices, etc.) and by the CUB for analyzing the network behavior (detection of malfunctions).
SOFREL RTUs installed at these 64 measurement points regularly provide the CUB and the Water Authority with critical information on:
the presence of pollutants discharged into the natural environment without decontamination,
the network operation during rainfall,
the network efficiency,
the decisions on network expansion and upgrade.
